The City of Fort Pierce Grants Administration Division is proud to announce a partnership with Drug Free St. Lucie to educate the community about the dangers of underage drinking and substance abuse. Together, we invite you to join us for a FREE FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT featuring the film "Screenagers Under the Influence: Addressing Vaping, Drugs, and Alcohol."

Event Details:

  • Date: Thursday, June 20, 2024
  • Time: 6:00 pm - 8:15 pm
  • Location: River Walk Center, 600 N. Indian River Drive, Fort Pierce, FL 34950

Screenagers Under the Influence: Addressing Vaping, Drugs, and Alcohol in the Digital Age delves into how the tech revolution has reshaped adolescence and its effects on substance use. The film debunks myths and depicts strategies parents and schools can use to encourage healthy decision-making, support teen mental health, set limits, and create healthy home environments. It also highlights the ways young people are using their wisdom and strength to navigate the complex terrain of substance use.

This film meets a pressing need for a comprehensive exploration of common scenarios faced by teens today. It is grounded in the current reality of teens being inundated with images on social media, movies, and TV shows that glamorize vaping, drugs, and alcohol. Screenagers Under the Influence combines cutting-edge science with personal stories to create an informative and entertaining experience for both young people and adults. The film focuses on practical solutions for keeping teens safe in a changing world.
