As of 8:00 AM, Tropical Storm Fred was located just south of the eastern Dominican Republic and moving WNW at 16 mph. Fred’s maximum sustained winds are 40 mph and not expected to strengthen beyond a tropical storm. Most of Florida is in the cone of probability and residents may feel the effects of Tropical Storm Fred this weekend as a rain event. Residents are encouraged to take necessary precautions in the event of Tropical Storm effects and potential flooding. There are no other warnings or watches issued for Florida at this time.
