The City of Fort Pierce has an estimated $223,191.67 from the Florida Housing Finance Corporation’s (FHFC) State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) Program for fiscal years 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 to assist very-low-, low, and moderate-income residents with housing rehabilitation and purchase assistance of homes built within the past five years. The amount of funding listed above is an estimate and is subject to change. A 10% administration fee has been deducted from the allocation of each funding year for program administration, and an additional 20% ($44,638.33) is required to serve persons with special needs as defined in s.420.004, Florida Statues (This includes persons having disabling conditions and /or those receiving benefits under SSDI or SSI, etc.)
Homeowners needing assistance with housing repairs that pose a risk to health and/or safety may be eligible for up to $35,000.00 in funding assistance to repair or replace critical housing structures such as roofing, doors, windows, etc. Eligible applicants must currently occupy and own the home and must be current on property taxes and mortgage, as well as have a current homestead exemption.
New Homebuyers with pre-approval from a lending or banking institution may be eligible for up to $10,000 in down payment assistance for homes constructed in the last five years and located within City limits. All new homebuyers must also obtain an 8-hour homebuyer education certificate prior to funding approval.
Funding for both programs is subject to availability, and all applications are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Applications for both Purchase Assistance and Housing Rehabilitation will be available starting May 3, 2021, and will be accepted from May 3, 2021, until funds are expended.
