Representatives from St. Lucie County recently announced the launch of a new initiative to revitalize local transportation in the area. To kick off this project, the Treasure Coast Connector transit service will experience a full rebrand of its name and logo. St. Lucie County is now inviting all community members to submit their name recommendations for consideration. After a two-week nomination process, the public will have the opportunity to engage in a voting period to select their favorites.
Community members are encouraged to submit their transit name suggestions at www.StLucieBusBrand.com. The submission link will close on Jan. 22, and public voting will begin on Feb. 1. Following the renaming process, the intergovernmental team will be working to develop a new visual logo for the transportation service. The new name and brand are expected for completion in late April 2021.
“We are excited for the community to be involved with this project and assist us in evolving the future of the Treasure Coast Connector, starting with a new name,” said St. Lucie Board of County Commissioner Chair Chris Dzadovsky. “Our transportation system provides a critical service to all community members by offering safe and affordable travel options throughout the area. We recognize that residents can offer unique perspectives and insight and hope this rebrand will be the first step in ensuring our future transportation services are meeting the needs of all community members.”
Intergovernmental coordination will include several public engagement opportunities, including but not limited to:
- The St. Lucie Local Coordinating Board for the Transportation Disadvantaged at the St. Lucie Transportation Planning Organization on Feb. 24 at 2 p.m.;
- The Downtown Public Market of Fort Pierce on various Saturdays;
- The Beth Ryder Intermodal Facility on Avenue D and 8th Street in Fort Pierce during peak days and times;
- A virtual Citizen Summit hosted by the City of Port Saint Lucie, a Virtual Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, March 4 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.;
- A pop-up event at Winter Lakes (a Port St. Lucie community in the Torino neighborhood of St. Lucie West in Port St. Lucie) on Saturday, March 6 from 10 a.m. to noon.
This renaming comes at a time when the Treasure Coast Connector has experienced significant ridership growth and introduced new service improvements to the region. Public transit is an integral component to the economic growth and development for all of St. Lucie County. The St. Lucie County Board of County Commissioners contracts with several providers to operate the system, including MV Transportation, Inc., a recognized leader in managing the fixed-route bus service and paratransit/Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) transit services, UZURV: an adaptive transportation network company, Uber for Business and TransLoc, a Ford Smart Mobility Company are just a few of the partners that help keep the system moving.
