The Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade that was scheduled to take place Monday, January 18, 2021 has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.
The MLK committee made the decision to cancel the annual parade with growing concerns from participating officials, schools, and community partners. The committee, along with the City of Fort Pierce wants to ensure the highest level of safety for the community during these unprecedented times, especially for those participating in the parade.
The primary focus for the City of Fort Pierce is to provide a safe environment for all citizens. We are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely, and we are working with our community partners to ensure that the most current information is being effectively communicated. Furthermore, we are following the guidelines of the CDC, and are strongly urging visitors of any city facility and our employees to wear a facemask and practice social distancing in order to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
