SOUTH CAUSEWAY AND JAYCEE PARKS CLOSED THIS WEEKEND
In an effort to promote proper social distancing and reduce mass gathering, Jaycee Park and South Causeway Park will be closed to the public beginning Friday, May 22 at 7am until Tuesday, May 26 at 12pm. The decision was made at the May 18th Fort Pierce City Commission meeting to best comply with the Governor’s orders and CDC guidelines. With the holiday weekend ahead, the City of Fort Pierce anticipates large crowds on the waterfront and is taking precautions to protect our community. The boat ramp at Jaycee Park will remain open during the park closure. All other City of Fort Pierce parks remain open.
POP-UP MOBILE PANTRY
The City of Fort Pierce and the Treasure Coast Food Bank will be hosting a drive-thru Pop-Up Mobile Pantry Friday, 5/22 at 10AM in Fort Pierce at the Percy Peek Gym (2902 Avenue D). If you need a little extra help with groceries, stop by the drive-thru pantry.
PEDESTRIANIZING SECOND STREET
The City is launching a pilot street closure this weekend. Second Street between Marina Way and Orange Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic on Friday, May 22 until Monday, May 25. The intent of this closure is to create additional pedestrian space and to help businesses expand capacity, not to create a gathering or social space. Future zones will be considered based on this pilot.
PARKLET PROGRAM
The City’s parklet program begins next week where businesses will be allowed to utilize the on-street parking spaces in front of their establishment for additional seating or shopping space. There is no fee for this program. Businesses in participating should email shelms@cityoffortpierce.com for more information.
COMMITTEE MEETINGS
City of Fort Pierce Board and Committee meetings shall resume as necessary. All meetings will take place in the Commission Chambers for proper social distancing and teleconferencing capabilities. For a list of Board and Committee meetings, visit: http://www.cityoffortpierce.com/223/Agendas-Minutes
