FORT PIERCE -- The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Four will hold a Public Hearing for the SR A1A North Causeway Bridge Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study on Tuesday, January 31, 2017. The meeting will be held at the River Walk Center, 600 North Indian River Drive, Fort Pierce, FL 34950. The meeting will begin as an open house at 5:30 p.m. with a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m.
A PD&E Study is FDOT’s process to evaluate the social and environmental impacts associated with a planned transportation improvements project.
The purpose of this project is to evaluate bridge replacement alternatives, which will resolve the structurally deficient conditions of the existing bridge and enhance regional mobility for the area bound by this study. The limits of this projects are from US 1 to approximately 2,000 feet east of the existing bridge over the Indian River and Intracoastal Waterway in Fort Pierce.
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by FDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 14, 2016, and executed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and FDOT.
