In prompt response to our community’s concern and pursuant to the Fort Pierce City Commission’s recommendation at their Special Meeting on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, the City of Fort Pierce has immediately sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Justice. This letter is requesting an evaluation of the ongoing investigation into the shooting death of Demarcus Semer in order to determine if Department of Justice intervention is warranted.
The City of Fort Pierce is committed to transparency and to a complete and impartial investigative process. In the interest of informing the public, a news flash feed has been created on the city’s website at www.cityoffortpierce.com. The public may subscribe to receive a notification when a new alert is added.
“We are dedicated to ensuring a thorough investigation that produces the truth,” said Mayor Linda Hudson. “There is a reason justice is blind because it lands where it is supposed to land. I pledge to you that we are seeking the truth,” Hudson added.
