SUSPECT: Eric Joseph Jackson D.O.B. 08/29/1974
Fort Pierce Police Department in conjunction with the F.B.I.’s “Safe Street” Task Force were able to identify the bank robbery suspect responsible for two bank robberies within the city limits of Fort Pierce. On 10/14/2015, Eric Jackson entered the Oculina Bank, 610 Delaware Avenue, with a manila envelope. He handed a bank employee the envelope and then fled the bank after being given an undisclosed amount of money. Jackson fled on foot to a black SUV and fled the area. On 11/03/2015, Jackson entered the Center State Bank, 5001 Okeechobee Road, with another manila envelope asking for money. Jackson attempted to flee the area in his black SUV; however, sustained damage to his vehicle as he fled. Fort Pierce Police were able to identify the type of vehicle the suspect was driving by the damaged vehicle pieces left at the scene. The identification of the vehicle led to the identification of Jackson. During the ongoing investigation detectives and agents learned that Jackson was in the Palm Bay area which led to the suspects apprehension. The suspect was apprehended by the FBI with out incident.
Due to the cooperation and working relationship of these agencies a dangerous bank robber is off the street. The joint investigation with the Fort Pierce Police Department and the F.B.I. continues.
