Fort Pierce Search for Chief of Police

The City of Fort Pierce officially opened its nationwide search for the next Chief of Police, inviting qualified law enforcement leaders from across the country to apply for this vital role in one of Florida’s most historic and vibrant coastal communities.
The City seeks an innovative and strategic leader to serve as Chief of Police. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to community policing, problem-solving, and public trust. A bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a related field (master’s degree preferred), at least 10 years of progressive law enforcement experience—including 3 at a command level—and completion of advanced training (FBI National Academy, SPI, SMIP, or equivalent) are required.
The salary range for the position is $128,250 to $212,000, depending on qualifications. The City offers a competitive benefits package and requires residency within city limits. Florida does not impose a state income tax.
