The City of Fort Pierce is taking proactive steps to reduce transportation-related fatalities and injuries with the development of its Comprehensive Safety Action Plan (CSAP). This initiative began in September 2024 and continues to evolve with community input.
Reducing traffic crashes remains a priority in Fort Pierce, with an average of six accidents occurring daily over the past six years. The city recognizes the need for meaningful improvements and is committed to creating safer streets for all users — including pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, public transit riders, and individuals using mobility devices. The CSAP will provide a strategic framework to identify and implement critical safety measures throughout the city.
As part of its ongoing public engagement, the city will host a final Public Open House on Tuesday, April 29, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the River Walk Center, 600 North Indian River Drive, Fort Pierce. At this event, attendees will have the opportunity to review the draft CSAP, hear a presentation of key recommendations, and share their feedback. The first ten attendees to sign in will receive a free $10 Publix gift card.
In addition, the draft plan will be posted online at https://shorturl.at/BAuji starting Monday, April 28. Residents can access the plan and submit comments through a digital feedback form available on the website through June 9, 2025.
