Fort Pierce Announces Installation of Painted Sanitation Covers in Downtown Fort Pierce

Cultural attractions, natural art, public art displays, transformer boxes, painted pots and now sanitation covers… art is truly everywhere you look in Fort Pierce!

Fort Pierce's plethora of cultural attractions are one of the hallmarks of the city's quality of life. You'll find beautiful art galleries, heritage trails and historic venues like the Sunrise Theatre, which make Fort Pierce come alive with a constant influx of culture and entertainment.

From the vibrant watercolor sunrises to the vivid peacocks found along Orange Avenue, natural art is abundant in Fort Pierce. In addition to our endless natural beauty, you can experience public art exhibitions every day that bring museum quality sculptures to the city's streets and parks. In addition, the city’s mural program is really taking off and murals are popping up all over town with many more in the works. Fort Pierce Utilities Authority is building on their transformer box art program and we’ll be seeing several additional covered boxes soon.

Continuing with art in unexpected places, sanitation covers are now added to the list of public art in Fort Pierce! That’s right, Keep Fort Pierce Beautiful partnered with local artists to paint all of the sanitation covers on Orange Avenue from US 1 to Indian River Drive. Walking down the sidewalk to discover pieces of artwork on something so surprising is just another reason why Fort Pierce is a unique, one-of-a-kind town.

Special thanks to all of the artists who donated their time and talent for this special project.

We hope to periodically relocate the covers to different parts of the city to continue the unexpected “wow factor.”
