City of Fort Pierce Extends Impact Fee Waiver for New Construction in Redevelopment Area

Thinking about building a new home or business in the heart of Fort Pierce? Now is the perfect time. The City has extended its impact fee waiver for new residential and commercial construction within the Urban Infill and Redevelopment Area through November 2026.

FORT PIERCE, FL – The City of Fort Pierce is proud to announce the extension of its impact fee moratorium, reaffirming a strong commitment to encouraging new residential and commercial construction within the Urban Infill and Redevelopment Area. First adopted in 2020, this initiative has helped reduce development costs and spark investment. With the City Commission’s approval on November 3, 2025, the waiver will now continue through November 3, 2026.

Over the past five years, this initiative has proven to be a powerful tool for revitalization. The impact fee waiver has directly contributed to a steady increase in construction permits within the Urban Infill and Redevelopment Area, bringing new homes, businesses, and investment into core neighborhoods.

This extension reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to revitalizing neighborhoods and supporting smart, sustainable growth. By waiving city impact fees, Fort Pierce is making it easier and more affordable to invest in projects that improve the community.

The focus is on the Urban Infill and Redevelopment Area, parts of the city that already have roads, utilities, and other infrastructure in place. These areas are ideal for infill development that makes use of vacant or underused land within established neighborhoods.

The impact fee moratorium is just one of several tools the City and the Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency offer to support revitalization efforts. Additional programs include Commercial Façade Grant Program, Property Refresh Grants for Paint and Signage, and the Infill Lien Reduction Program. Together, these initiatives are designed to attract investment and promote economic vitality in Fort Pierce’s core neighborhoods.

The City invites developers, entrepreneurs, and residents to take advantage of this extended opportunity and be part of Fort Pierce’s continued transformation.
