Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency (FPRA) FY 2024 Annual Report is Now Available

FORT PIERCE, FL – The City of Fort Pierce is proud to announce the release of the Fort Pierce Redevelopment Agency (FPRA) Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2024, which showcases a transformative year of strategic investments, neighborhood revitalization, and cultural preservation. The comprehensive report highlights how focused redevelopment efforts are enhancing quality of life, driving economic growth, and maintaining the unique charm of Fort Pierce.

Throughout 2024, the FPRA continued its mission while fostering sustainable development in targeted areas. The report documents measurable progress through several key initiatives:

Key Highlights from the 2024 Annual Report:

• Historic Restoration – Old St. Anastasia Building
   The FPRA completed the exterior restoration of the historic Old St. Anastasia Catholic School at Orange Avenue and 10th Street. This iconic structure now stands as a renewed gateway to the Peacock Arts District, preserving Fort Pierce’s rich heritage and paving the way for future community-focused redevelopment.
• Cultural Heritage & Economic Catalyst – Highwaymen Museum
   Major progress was made on the upcoming Highwaymen Museum in the Lincoln Park district, in partnership with the Original Florida Hall of Fame Highwaymen. This landmark project honors Fort Pierce’s world-renowned Highwaymen artists and serves as a cultural cornerstone for the community. The museum is envisioned as a catalyst for tourism and economic revitalization in Lincoln Park, celebrating the Highwaymen’s legacy in a venue worthy of their esteemed history.
• Community Beautification Grants
   Local businesses and residents benefited from programs like the Commercial Façade Improvement Grant (up to $25,000) and the Paint Program (up to $1,000), resulting in beautified storefronts, revitalized homes, and renewed neighborhood pride. These initiatives have beautified key areas of the city, eliminated visual blight, and inspired adjacent property owners to make improvements.
• Economic Growth & Investment
   The FPRA’s strategic incentives, including the extension of an impact fee waiver, contributed to a record number of new construction permits in the urban core – the highest since the program’s inception in 2020. This surge in development reflects the success of policies designed to stimulate growth and revitalize underutilized spaces.
• Public Art and Community Identity
   The Peacock Arts District Mural Program continued to flourish in FY 2024, with new large-scale murals celebrating Fort Pierce’s natural beauty and cultural identity. These vibrant works not only enhance the visual landscape but also support local artists and strengthen community pride. One of the new murals, featuring a peacock and tropical flowers – symbolic of the Peacock Arts District – proudly graces the cover of this year’s report.

Committed to Sustainable Redevelopment

The projects and progress outlined in the 2024 Annual Report were funded through reinvestment of local tax increment revenues within the FPRA district. Importantly, no new taxes were levied to support these initiatives – underscoring the FPRA’s commitment to sustainable, community-driven redevelopment.
