Public Comment and Hearing for the Draft 2024-2025 CDGB Annual Action Plan
FORT PIERCE, FL – The City of Fort Pierce is pleased to announce the availability of the draft 2024-2025 CDBG Annual Action Plan (AAP) for a thirty (30) day public comment and review period. Additionally, a Public Hearing will be held to gather community input on the proposed plan.
As an entitlement city, Fort Pierce is eligible to receive Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. These funds are allocated for housing and community development activities aimed at benefiting low- to moderate-income residents in Fort Pierce.
This plan assesses the City's housing and community development needs and identifies priority areas. This strategic plan includes goals to address these needs. Each year, a CDBG Annual Action Plan (AAP) is developed to outline activities that will help achieve these goals.
Public Comment Period:
A draft of the 2024-2025 AAP will be available for review from July 8, 2024, to August 3, 2024. The draft can be downloaded from the City’s Grants Administration website at: https://www.cityoffortpierce.com/399/Community-Development-Block-Grant-CDBG
Submitting Public Comments:
Public comments on the draft will be accepted until 4:30 PM on August 3, 2024. Comments can be submitted via:
Public Hearing:
A public hearing will be held during a regularly scheduled City Commission meeting on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 5:05 PM. City Commission meetings are held in the Commission Chambers at the City of Fort Pierce City Hall, 100 North U.S. Highway 1. Community Priorities for CDBG Funds:
Based on survey responses, the residents of Fort Pierce have indicated the three leading priorities for this year’s Community Development Block Grant funds:
- New and Affordable Housing, Home Repairs, and Home Ownership Assistance: With 61.73% of residents prioritizing these needs, it is clear that housing is a top concern for the community's growth and development.
- Updates to Current Community Facilities, Parks, and Recreation Centers: This priority received 60.49% of the votes, highlighting the importance of maintaining and improving public spaces.
- Public Improvements, including Street Repairs, Lighting, Water, and Sewers: At 55.56%, this priority underscores the community's need for essential infrastructure improvements.
The City of Fort Pierce encourages all residents to participate in the public review process and provide their valuable input on the Draft 2024-2025 AAP. Your feedback is essential in ensuring that the CDBG funds are allocated to projects that best serve the Fort Pierce community.
