The City of Fort Pierce in partnership with the State of Florida announces the opening of a long-term COVID-19 vaccination site at the Fort Pierce Recreation Center, located at 903 S. 21st Street. Today from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the site begins offering Pfizer vaccines on a first-come, first-serve basis. No appointment or registration is required.
Starting Tuesday, March 23, 2021, the site will be opened 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. seven days a week. IEM and AshBritt, disaster management firms, will oversee the daily operations. The site will have the capacity to administer approximately 200 Pfizer vaccines per day. The City of Fort Pierce encourages all residents and visitors to check all eligibility requirements before arriving at the vaccination site. If all requirements are not met, individuals can expect to be turned away.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis prioritized Seniors First by executive order to ensure the most vulnerable citizens have access to the vaccine first. The state will expand its eligibility requirements as more vaccines arrive.
Per Executive Order 21-67 (Amending Executive Order 20-315 - Vaccine Administration/Protecting Florida’s Seniors) which states effective Monday, March 22, 2021.
Do I need to be a resident of Florida to receive the COVID-19 vaccine?
State Surgeon General Scott Rivkees issued a Public Health Advisory on January 21 prioritizing vaccines for residents of the State of Florida or individuals in Florida for the purpose of providing health care services involving direct contact with patients. To prove residency an adult resident must provide a copy of his or her valid Florida driver license or a copy of a valid Florida identification card.
Seasonal residents may provide a copy of two of the following to show proof of residential address:
1. A deed, mortgage, monthly mortgage statement, mortgage payment booklet or residential rental or lease agreement.
2. One proof of residential address from the seasonal resident’s parent, step-parent or legal guardian or other person with whom the seasonal resident resides and a statement from the person with whom the seasonal resident resides stating that the seasonal resident does reside with him or her.
3. A utility hookup or work order dated within 60 days.
4. A utility bill, not more than 2 months old.
5. Mail from a financial institution, including checking, savings, or investment account statements, not more than 2 months old.
6. Mail from a federal, state, county, or municipal government agency, not more than 2 months old.
