Hurricane Isaias Advisory 3

The City of Fort Pierce is closely monitoring the path of Hurricane Isaias. Residents should stay alert to forecast changes by reliable sources and make final preparations. The next complete advisory will be issued by NHC at 5pm with an intermediate advisory at 2pm - www.hurricanes.gov.


As of 12pm on Saturday, August 1, we have the following update:


HURRICANE WARNING

A Hurricane Warning remains in effect for St. Lucie County.


WATER MAIN BREAK ON SOUTH HUTCHINSON ISLAND

A 16” water main break occurred on South Hutchinson Island in the 1700 block of Binney Drive. Fort Pierce Utilities Authority (FPUA) is in the process of making repairs that will necessitate an interruption of water service to the entire FPUA service territory on South Hutchinson Island. The interruption of water service is expected to last a minimum of 4 hours. A boil water notice will be issued when repairs are completed. FPUA regrets any inconvenience to customers.


CITY PARKING GARAGE

The City of Fort Pierce parking garage behind City Hall in Downtown Fort Pierce is currently closed to the public due to construction. The garage will reopen on Monday, August 3 at 7am.

 

SHELTERS/EVACUATIONS

St. Lucie County’s Emergency Management staff is urging residents to shelter in place during this event, as there are no immediate plans to open shelters or issue evacuations.


SOUTH BRIDGE

As of right now, there are no plans to close South Bridge.


PUBLIC INFORMATION LINE

St. Lucie County’s Emergency Operations Center will be opening its Public Information Lines on Saturday, August 1 at 8am. That number is 772-460-HELP (4357). Please reserve 911 for emergency calls.


SAND DISTRIBUTION

The City of Fort Pierce continues to host free self-serve sandbag program at NW Pioneers, MLK Dreamland, and Jaycee Parks. Residents should bring their own bags and shovel. Parks are open daily from dawn to dusk.

Residents are also urged to sign up for St. Lucie County’s Alert St. Lucie program to get emergency notifications sent directly to their phone, email or text: www.stlucieco.gov/Alert
