City of Fort Pierce COVID-19 Update #1

The City of Fort Pierce is committed to protecting the health and well-being of our citizens and visitors. The City of Fort Pierce continues to work closely with our community partners to monitor the Coronavirus situation in our community. At this time, there are no confirmed cases of the Coronavirus in St. Lucie County.

COMMUNICATION

We are committed to keeping our residents safe and informed - all public notices will be provided on the city’s website, social media channels and Fort Pierce TV Channel 27. Residents may subscribe to receive updates through the “COVID-19 Information” alert center on the city’s website: www.cityoffortpierce.com. Residents are also advised to sign up for St. Lucie County’s Alert St. Lucie program to get emergency notifications sent directly to their phone, email or text: www.stlucieco.gov/Alert.

CITY SERVICES

There is currently no change in city services. As we adapt to the recommendations and restrictions due to the Coronavirus, citizens are encouraged to take advantage of our online services, email and phone resources. Visit our website at www.cityoffortpierce.com.

CITY COMMISSION MEETING

The City of Fort Pierce City Commission Meeting tonight at 6:30 pm will proceed as regularly scheduled.

SEVEN GABLES VISITOR CENTER

The Seven Gables Visitor Center will be closed through April 3, 2020.

EVENTS

As a preventive measure to reduce the transmission and spread of the Coronavirus, large-scale special events and all performances at the Sunrise Theatre for the Performing Arts and Black Box have been postponed or canceled through April 3, 2020.

FISHERMAN’S WHARF REDEVELOPMENT

The Fisherman’s Wharf Request for Qualifications is being postponed until further notice as well as the respective Pre-Qualification meeting scheduled for March 18, 2020.

 ST. LUCIE PUBLIC SCHOOLS

The Florida Commissioner of Education announced that spring break will be extended by one week. For St. Lucie students, spring break will begin on March 16th and students will return on March 30th. All extracurricular activities, including athletics, are canceled effective Monday, March 16th.

St. Lucie Public Schools Child Nutrition Services will be serving meals for students in our community, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20, 2020, at the following schools:

  • Chester A. Moore Elementary: 827 N 29th St, Fort Pierce, FL 34947
  • Northport K8: 250 NW Floresta Dr, Port St. Lucie, FL 34983
  • Treasure Coast High School: 1000 SW Darwin Blvd, Port Saint Lucie, FL 34953

Child Nutrition Services Managers across the District will be staffing the open locations.

Meals will be prepped, bagged and brought to the bus loop area which will allow for parents to drive through and pick up meals with their children. Meals will be provided to children in the car 18 years of age and younger. Children must be present in the car to receive meal(s). Child Nutrition Services staff will be handing out the meals and ask families to please remain in their cars while in the pickup line.

FORT PIERCE UTILITIES AUTHORITY

Beginning Wednesday, March 18 at 9:00 am, FPUA’s Customer Service Lobby will be closed to the public. FPUA anticipates reopening the lobby after a period of two weeks but will re-evaluate according to recommendations from the CDC and SLC Department of Health. FPUA has also decided to suspend service disconnections beginning Wednesday, March 18 and continuing until further notice. For more information, please visit: https://fpua.com/

 BUSINESS DAMAGE ASSESSMENT SURVEY

Governor Ron DeSantis announced the activation of the Business Damage Assessment survey to assess the impact of COVID-19 on Florida’s local business operations. The survey, managed by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), will evaluate businesses affected by COVID-19 and the impacts the virus has had on the local economy so actions to implement appropriate relief programs can begin.
