Fort Pierce Yacht Club Foundation, in conjunction with the St Lucie Public Schools, is planning a Marine and Maritime Career Expo to be held on February 23, 2023. The purpose of the event is to connect local students with opportunities to learn about potential careers in the maritime industry, marine industry, and environmental-science related fields.
This expo will be designed to introduce students, who will be in the job market a few years hence, to the various career opportunities in our field. Further it will motivate them to select curriculum over the next 1-4 years which will build the skills necessary to be the next industry participants. It will allow industry participant to encourage these young people to develop skill sets that will help the industry’s employment issues over time and raise awareness of the issues faced in the industry.
The day will be split up between a variety of events including time for students to walk around to different vendors and engage in one-on-one conversations. Students will also attend a panel discussion amongst industry leaders, moderated by Ed Killer.
As this is the first year of this expo, we are “starting small” with approximately 30 industry leaders and 100 students. The event will ideally take place between Riverwalk Community Center and the Fort Pierce Yacht Club from 10:15 am to 12:15pm
