Neighborhood Stabilization Program 1

The City of Fort Pierce was allocated $2,085,396 by Florida Department of Community Affairs, to include a set aside provision that requires that at least 25% of the funds ($579,993 for City of Fort Pierce) be expended on rental housing for households earning less than 50% of the area median income. Partnerships will be developed with organizations and programs to meet stipulations under Florida's Neighborhood Stabilization Amendment dated December 1, 2008. The NSP funds will be used to address foreclosure and abandonment in the "areas of greatest need", by acquiring, rehabilitating, demolishing, and redeveloping residential properties in order to help stabilize neighborhoods.
