The Code Enforcement Department enforces the City Codes adopted by the City Commission that establish minimum standards for health, safety and general welfare as well as regulates conditions of existing buildings, odors and pollution in order to prevent the creation of substandard dwellings, slums and blight.

The Code Enforcement Department works closely with the Ft. Pierce Police Department, Building, Engineering, Community Services, Historic Preservation and Planning & Zoning Departments. Through mutual interdepartmental cooperation, enforcement of the City Code is done without prejudice, provides community preservation and helps maintain a clean and safe city.

The City of Fort Pierce's Code of Ordinances is equally enforced throughout the City. All complaints will be investigated regardless of the location of the violation or the nature of the complaint. No one is required to leave their name or telephone number when making a complaint

The Department has recently adopted a new enforcement procedure called "Block by Block Enforcement."  Whenever possible, an Officer investigating a violation complaint will also inspect the properties located on that entire block. This procedure exemplifies the Department's commitment equal enforcement.

Call 772-460-2200 Ext. 234 to place a complaint. Please leave a clear message indicating the problem and location of the violation. A call back name and telephone number is helpful but is not necessary. You can email a complaint directly to the Code Enforcement Department at codeenforcement@city-ftpierce.com
